Daniel

D-rat!

Woke up the other day and looked out into the back garden.  Saw this amusing sight.

Dead rodent

Obviously not amusing for the mouse/rat/vole rodent thing, but it looked like it was auditioning for a part as a stunt double in Stuart Little.  Not quite sure why it was lying there on its back legs up in the air.

Anyway, I thought Ian would appreciate it if I turned it into a caption competition.  Also, feel free to put forward your expertise as to what could have been the cause of death.

The best entry wins a prize. Don't know what yet, was thinking of possibly an intellimouse

I’d be more worried about why there was a rat in my back garden than why it was dead…

We get all sorts. Foxes, hedgehogs, kestrels, frogs, even some geese once. Most of them get through unscathed though.

Which is more than can be said for the neighbour’s cat…although we have pretty much ‘deterred’ it from coming into our garden to use it as a toilet and also attacking any birds.

If you’re looking to do the same in your garden, the following study is most useful as a starting point:

Dan - there’s a striking resemblance to the posture of this mouse and that of Mark (on the left below) just after you knocked him out of the poker tournament -)

Mark Donnelly - damn good poker player

So - had the mouse just folded KQ and later discovered you were only holding QJ?

Caption for mouse pic:

Lab tests reveal - too much grass is bad for you!

Lawn of the dead?

“If you’re ratty and you know it clap your hands…”

Mark wasn’t getting knocked out in that photo. He was still in when it was heads-up between the two of us.

But that sort of ruins your joke…sorry.

Your other efforts were better anyway. )

Sorry Mark - didn’t mean to do you an injustice.

By the way… do I win the mouse?

Ian

You can have my old one - I’ve just bought a new one…
